In Homer’s Odyssey, Antinous presents Penelope with a gift of jeweled pins in an attempt to seduce her. Athenian Women used the dagger-like pins to fasten their tunics. Crismann reinterprets the pin into an iconic element, a symbol of attachment, an expression of love: The “Pinlove”. Thin but not kind, delicate but sharp, easy to hold but careful to handle. Isn’t this what love is all about?
